New banking trojan infects Android phones, Symbian and ... - Globo.com

File Win32/Spy.Hesperbot was detected recently in August. The sophisticated threat is a function of keylogger aimed to capture images and videos of start screens of the device, and configure a new proxy remote. Another function enables remote connections are created to secretly infect systems where they are lodged.

Users from countries like Turkey, Czech Republic, United Kingdom and Portugal have been contaminated with the application, which spreads by e-mail. The goal is to obtain information cybercriminals account and password of the victims to perform illegal financial transactions.

“The analysis revealed that we were dealing with a banking trojan, with similar functionality and identical goals of Zeus and SpyEye, but significant differences in implementation indicate that this is a new family of malware, not a variant of a known trojan “explains Robert Lipovsky, researcher at ESET.
