The executive did not specify which areas could be sold. “I think the BlackBerry is able to survive as a niche company. But being a niche company means deciding to be a niche company. Historically, the BlackBerry has had bigger ambitions. But fighting with giants like Apple, Google and Samsung is difficult, “he said.

Nordberg said the BlackBerry needs to target the gap between the value of the company in the role and how the stock market perceives that value. “If you look at the value of the BlackBerry in his account book and market value, it is clear that there is much work to do,” he claimed.

The company’s results have been disappointing the market lately and BlackBerry announced in August, the creation of a special committee to consider selling the company and other options such as partnerships, joint ventures and delisting.

Bert Nordberg part of this special committee and served on the restructuring of Ericsson when the company nearly went bankrupt in the early 2000s, and as CEO of Sony Ericsson, attended the sale of the Swedish part of the joint venture with Sony .
