BlackBerry bought by 4,700 million dollars - TeK.sapo

A Canadian manufacturer of mobile phones had publicly announced in August, to be willing to be bought, after many months of a species recovery that was not very good and a new strategy to regain lost ground on smartphones.

Last week, the multinational has announced the dismissal of 4,500 employees worldwide, a number slightly higher than one third of the workforce. The last number of employees of the BlackBerry, released by the company was 12,700, the number of people who would work in the company in March, a value quite different from that marked the heyday of the manufacturer, which has given employment to 20 thousand people.

According to the agreement known

this Monday, the consortium led by Fairfax, which already has 10% of Blackberry offers nine U.S. dollars (6.7 euros) for each of the remaining shares in an operation still depends on being secured funding.

The COO of Fairfax, Prem Watsa, said today in a statement that the operation “will open a new chapter in the BlackBerry” and that the company will once again be able to give back to their shareholders.
