BlackBerry will reduce up to 40% of employees at year end - SIC News

staff cuts will hit all sectors of the company and will be done in phases, adiantaram sources told the Wall Street Journal.

The company had 12,700 workers in March, according to the latest statistics released by BlackBerry.

staff cuts come at a time when the BlackBerry formerly dominant manufacturer of smartphones 1/8os called smart phones 3/8, studying ways to reduce costs and increase sales in a competitive market, in which the position was lost to competitors such as Apple and Samsung Electronics.

Last year, the BlackBerry fired about 6,000 workers and this summer, workers from the departments of sales and research and evaluation were also dismissed the BlackBerry.

Two years ago, the BlackBerry had more than 17,000 employees and a market share of 14% market share of ‘smartphones’ American.

Currently, the company has about 12,700 employees and a market share of only 3% market share of ‘smartphones’ U.S., having posted losses of 646 million dollars in 2012 and a decline of more than 40% of sales.
