BlackBerry announces creation of group dedicated to the Internet of Things - Teletime

The Internet of Things (IoT, its acronym in English) has a simple math: while there are over 6.4 billion mobile connections in the world today, according to data from Ericsson June 2013, with the IoT this increases to over 5 billion devices that can connect us. Therefore, one of the trends is that companies are trying to invest, as was the case of the BlackBerry. The company’s CEO, John Chen, announced on Thursday, 23 through blog post by the Canadian company’s business, the creation of a group called the Cloud Business Division QNX systems to engage in solutions for IoT, that should work parallel to the area that caters to the integrated systems market (generic and automotive) form.

The idea of ??the group is to “lead to a timely and consistent manner market” solutions developed in IoT BlackBerry and QNX. How this will be done has not yet been defined, although the announcement of the leaders behind this new area indicate that there will be a search for partnerships with developers to the ecosystem.

Cloud Business QNX will be led by Alec Saunders, who will hold the position of vice president. Saunders was vice president of relationship with developers and ecosystem development of the BlackBerry, but worked on QNX in 2001 and 2002. Marty Mallick will make the integration between the areas of developer relations and business development. “These changes are the basis for our continuing efforts to boost cooperation between the operational units of the BlackBerry, optimizing the most of our international talent and thus taking advantage of all the opportunities that come to us,” said Chen in a statement, promising to disclose more details in the coming months.
