The British newspaper The Times said on Tuesday it would no longer provide a version of its BlackBerry mobile application because few people used it, in a further sign that rival smartphone makers are outpacing the company’s technology.
sharp drop in revenue from the BlackBerry and its growing losses forced the technology pioneer to accept a preliminary offer of $ 4.7 billion from its largest shareholder for delisting the company.
Applications of The Times and Sunday Times for Blackberry will be removed from October 31, while access the systems from Apple and Android will remain unchanged, the British newspaper said in an e-mail to subscribers.
“While the application of The Times for iPhone, iPad and Android continues to have much success, few people use the application on the Blackberry,” said a spokeswoman for the company, owned by News Corp.
