The patent licensing company Wi-Lan said it had struck a deal with BlackBerry to extinguish all pending litigation between the companies.
The Wi-Lan, which has a series of patent lawsuits against manufacturers of smartphones, said in December last year that the BlackBerry, then known as Research In Motion had infringed a patent related to Bluetooth technology.
The Wi-Lan alleged that the BlackBerry tablet, the PlayBook, and a wide range of its smartphones used technology that violated its patent.
Financial terms and other details were not disclosed.
As part of the agreement announced Wednesday, the BlackBerry has obtained a license to use certain patents of Wi-Lan, the company said.
The two companies will discuss the licensing of other wireless technologies, added Wi-Lan.
