A founder and former chief executive of BlackBerry, Mike Lazaridis, has sold 26 million (nearly EUR 19 million) in shares of the Canadian company, reducing the share he had in conjunction with other co-founder, Douglas Fregin from about 8% to 4.99%.
According to documents filed with the regulator Canadian markets, Lazaridis and Fregin gave up the opportunity to buy the company, which last week announced record quarterly losses of 4400 million (EUR 3200 million ).
The two founders had announced to be considering buying the BlackBerry, after it announced in August that was for sale. One headed by an Indian tycoon living in Canada slipped back in October with an offer to buy, but eventually did not materialize.
a stake below 5%, Lazaradis no longer required to report future sales to Canadian markets regulator.
