The BlackBerry is “very much alive, thank you,” said the acting president of the company, John Chen, in an open letter on Monday, in which the smartphone maker has committed to a restructuring focused in the business market.

Chen took over the company a month ago, after the BlackBerry abandoned plans to sell.

“Our board ‘sells itself’ has been removed and we are here to stay,” he wrote in a letter to customers and business partners. The company showed the letter to Reuters.

“Briefly, news about our death are greatly exaggerated.”

The BlackBerry suffered a dramatic loss of market share for Apple devices and those equipped with the Android software from Google.

“We know that the BlackBerry devices are not for everyone. And okay,” he said. “Let’s go back to our roots, delivering mobile solutions for companies,” said Chen.
