Blackberry and Foxconn close agreement and promise new phone - Digital Look

BlackBerry today announces a strategic partnership agreement for five years with Foxconn, global manufacturer of electronic products and components that also caters to Apple. Initially the partnership will focus on launching a smartphone to Indonesia and other fast growing markets in early 2014. Do not know if Brazil is among them.

“Through the partnership, the BlackBerry address fast growing markets leveraging the efficiency and reach of Foxconn, which allow us to compete more effectively,” says John Chen, executive chairman and CEO of BlackBerry, which soured in the last quarter loss $ 1 billion and resigned 4500.

Foxconn will manufacture products for BlackBerry in Indonesia and Mexico factories. The Canadian will own the intellectual and responsible for quality certification of handsets produced by Asian property, just as happens now with outsourced suppliers.
