Rio is the fourth state to receive the initiative. The other Brazilian units are located in São Paulo (USP), Recife (UFPE) and Maceió (UFAL).

Career driven with big name

Blackberry is not the only one to get excited about the partnership with Brazilian universities. One of those selected to participate in the project, Lucas Lima, 21 year old student in the fourth quarter of Computer Engineering, believes the project is a chance to boost your career. “It is a very good opportunity and very difficult to happen here in Brazil. In addition to a financial return, we have a very large professional comeback, “he said.

“We can give our opinion, bring our ideas, and we listened. This is very important. It’s a great chance to develop ourselves as professionals, “said Brenno Ferrari, 25, also a project participant and student of Computer Science.

Thed Oliveira, 25, is a team of designers. He intends to draw a bridge between your project and the final course challenge at Tech Center. “I created a digital book for tablet. I’m thinking something similar like application. Something that can really help you, “he said.

Already

Rodrigo Peixoto, one responsible for the initiative, said the Tech Center goes beyond the creation of applications. “In every state we are focusing on different things. With this, we are improving the ‘ecosystem’ as a whole, with full focus on the user, “he said.

“We are studying the market to be able to position ourselves more established. The idea of ??the tech center is able to create solutions to everyday problems of the people, as to corporations. We want apps with aggregate values. Furthermore, we want to empower these students so they can develop their own business, “said one of the project leaders in the city, João Paulo Cavalcanti, the Software Engineering Laboratory at PUC-Rio.

The choice of Brazil as the first country to receive the program has very specific reasons: the country’s growth in the sector of information technology and the resemblance to the Canadian economy.

“Brazil has grown in recent years in this industry, and we, as a company, we see this. Outside the country has an economic policy very similar to our country. We develop in similar industries. This spurred this choice. And when you are faced with bright students like Brazilians, everything gets better. They think things I would never think. They are young people who see the smartphone as more than a device. They use it for everything. Therefore, know very well the problems of those who use them and how you can innovate in order to solve these problems, “the senior vice president of Public Policy Blackberry, David Paterson.

To the Foreign Minister of Canada, John Baird, the partnership between the Canadian company the university Rio has to yield good fruit. All because the PUC-Rio is one of the academic centers with one of the best computer science programs in the country. “This partnership will stimulate innovation, create jobs and bring growth and prosperity for both countries and in international markets. Canada and Brazil are together to create considerable technological solutions, “he said.

Tech Center Rio will have ten students of Mechanical Engineering and Software Design, Computer Science and Media, and engineer and developer of the BlackBerry. The center will operate during business hours on weekdays.
