São Paulo – BlackBerry is considering separating its instant messaging service and organize this operation into a separate company, the Wall Street Journal, citing sources familiar with the matter. The subsidiary will be called BBM Inc, the newspaper said.
BlackBerry has made changes in the management team of the BBM service operations and working on offering products other messages, including some tools already available for BlackBerry users, such as video chat, published the diary.
The company is considering making BBM available on personal computers, the newspaper said, citing sources with knowledge of the matter.
BlackBerry spokesman declined to comment.
The company said earlier this month that it was considering options that could include asset sales.
