Windows Phone grows 156%, almost disappears BlackBerry - Público.pt

The number of mobile phones with Windows Phone system shipped to retail increased 156% between the third quarter of last year and the same period this year, according to data from IDC analyst.

Even with the numbers to soar, the Microsoft platform equipped only 9.5 million handsets offered for sale, which represents a market share of 3.6%. The vast majority of handsets with Windows Phone is Nokia’s mobile phone business which Microsoft decided to buy an acquisition to be completed in the first months of next year.

This rise of Windows Phone is far above the average market growth, which was 39.9%. Altogether, hit stores about 261 smartphones over the last quarter, 79 million more than in the same months of 2012.

Android system (which is sold in handsets of various brands and various price levels) achieved aumntar leadership, and now have a 81% share, with iOS, Apple, at 12.9% (the new iPhone 5S and 5C were submitted in September and, in most markets, became available only after the end of that month, in the fourth quarter).

Already

BlackBerry – which made a failed launch of new devices and a new platform earlier this year and walked, without success, to find a buyer – almost disappeared. The brand sent 4.5 million mobile phones for retail, a decrease of 41.6%, which leaves it with 1.7% market share.
