Blackberry fired 250 employees of the division of research and development, as he tries to assert, again, as a leader in the smartphone market.
According to the website TechCrunch, all employees laid off from a factory in the province of Ontario, Canada, were working on a new product, which was still in the testing phase.
“I can confirm that the Blackberry said on Tuesday that 250 employees are about to be released,” said Lisette Kwong, a spokesman for the company.
Kwong also indicated that this collective dismissal “is part of the next phase of the recovery plan [the BlackBerry] to increase efficiency and expand the business correctly, towards new opportunities in mobile computing.”
