BlackBerry BBM either preinstalled on Androids - Adrenaline

BlackBerry had already announced that its instant messaging, BlackBerry Messenger , is coming soon to Android and iOS. Now the company wants to adopt a strategy a little more “aggressive”: to include the application pre-installed on some smartphones based on Google’s system.

“There is interest from other manufacturers,” said chief operating officer, Kristian Tear, the CNET. That’s because BBM has a wide fan base. There are 61 million customers worldwide, of which 70% use the app daily. As the executive, these numbers are a good incentive for manufacturers to include instant messaging pre-installed on their smartphones.

For BlackBerry, means more visibility and more fans, since many users of handsets from the company, especially in the United States, exchanged their BlackBerries for iPhones and Androids. Open BBM to other platforms is also an attempt to make others know the company.

CNET notes that the danger is that users of BlackBerry smartphones and desist from using the BBM before an attractive unique platform on rival devices. Kristian, however, says that this is not a concern. “We do not feel that this is a risk,” he said. “Obviously, if we thought we could have done otherwise.”

According to GSMArena, BBM hits stores application of iOS and Android on June 27.
